“Remember this and stand firm,
recall it to mind, you transgressors,
remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose . . . ’”

God lovingly calls his people to pause, look back, and remember who he is-especially when they’ve wandered or grown stubborn. Unlike human plans that change with circumstances, his purposes are steady and sure, and he is never surprised by what unfolds. He doesn’t merely react to history; he declares the end from the beginning and faithfully brings his good plans to completion. Even when his people resist, forget, or doubt, the only true God will still succeed in his glorious purpose, patiently working for their ultimate good and his honor.
And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us . .
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory
His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.” But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”
The LORD has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is from the LORD.
These all look to you,
to give them their food in due season.
When you give it to them, they gather it up;
when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
When you hide your face, they are dismayed;
when you take away their breath, they die
and return to their dust.
When you send forth your Spirit, they are created,and you renew the face of the ground.
